Engineers for the hard parts of your product.
Since 2014 we have built software, staffed engineering teams and run applied R&D for companies in the United States and Europe — from consumer platforms and games to defence-adjacent radio systems. One partner for the code, the people who write it, and the hardware it runs on.
Four ways we get brought in
Most engagements start with one of these and grow into the others. We are comfortable being the whole engineering function or a single senior pair of hands inside an existing team.
Software development
Backend, web, mobile and data work delivered by a team that owns the outcome — architecture, implementation, review and release.
Talent sourcing
Vetted senior engineers from the Split talent pool, placed into US and EU teams through a network built over more than a decade.
Project management & QA
Delivery managers and test engineers who keep distributed teams honest about scope, quality and dates.
General engineering & prototyping
Electronics and firmware combined with CAD, 3D printing and CNC machining to take an idea to a working prototype.
A small city with an unusually deep engineering bench
Split has quietly become one of the stronger software talent markets in this part of Europe, and it grew up pointed at the American market. Early US startups opened offices here, trained people to US delivery standards, and several of those companies went on to significant exits.
Quantum bit's founder ran the local branch of one of the first of them — WHERE, Inc., the Boston location-media company acquired by eBay Inc. in 2011 and folded into PayPal. That experience, and the network on both sides of the Atlantic that came with it, is what the company has been built on ever since.
Software-defined radio for unmanned aircraft
AMOS-BL is our own R&D programme: an adaptive, modular software-defined radio designed to fly. It handles RF spectrum monitoring and signal localisation from a UAV platform, for border surveillance, personnel movement control and logistics in areas with weak or no cellular coverage.
The programme ran for 36 months with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund, and it is where our RF, embedded and mechanical work all meet.
Tell us what you are building.
Whether you need a team, one engineer, or a prototype that has to exist by a certain date — write to us and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people for it.
